Solo Mahjong - Asian Game
Solo Mahjong is the single-player version of the classic Chinese game, which is played according to the World Mahjong Federation rules. A winning Mahjong hand will consist of 14 tiles. At the start of a game round, after discarding a tile, you will have a ready hand – 13 tiles, just one short of winning. The tiles in your hand are arranged into sets by Suits and Number. Suits The letter suits are the Winds and Dragons. The Wind suit consists 4 tiles, for the East, West, North, and South winds. The Dragon suit consists of 3 tiles, for the Red, White and Green dragons. All these cards are marked with letters – E , W, N, S for Winds; R, Wh and G for Dragons. Also, the 1st and 9th tiles of each Number suit (Edges), together with the letter tiles, make up the Honors suit. Sets made up of honor tiles are worth more than sets made of Middle tiles. (the 2nd through 8th tiles of number suits). A standard game of Mahjong has 4 of each suit (for a total of 136 tiles). For the easier Solo Mahjong game, there can be up to 4 identical tiles in the hand and wall together. Sets The following sets are available: In standard Mahjong, a player might be required to call a set (declare to other players that he has it). In Solo Mahjong the set is put on the table, and spaced apart from the other tiles. Your ready hand may already contain called sets. Open Kong and Hidden Kong A hand containing no called sets, or only a called Hidden Kong, is called a Clean Hand. This is important because game points might be deducted if your hand is not clean. The above sets can be mixed and matched to produce a possible winning such as a full hand. For example, you can have : Note: there are also special hands such as 9 Treasure Lamps that award points for specific tile combinations that don't conform to the above rules.
